For hundreds of years, the monastery has been at the heart of tradition and community for Tibetan villages: custodian of the precious medical, artistic and spiritual knowledge it continues to be a symbol of the Tibetan cultural identity. Lama Gangchen Help in Action has contributed to the reconstruction of many monasteries, in particular to that of Gangchen Monastery: founded five centuries ago, today it is home to 45 monks. Many small monasteries in Central Tibet, receive financial aid from the Association, for their maintenance and to improve the sanitary conditions, amongst others are those of Sed Gyued, Riwo Choling and Nimo Gyalchun.
